Coffee Guatemala Outline Decoupage – [Guatemalan Unit Study]

Guatemala is one of the world’s leading producers of coffee, and has been a major part of Guatemala’s economy for over a hundred years. Today, approximately 125,000 coffee producers drive Guatemala’s coffee industry, with coffee remaining one of Guatemala’s principal export products, accounting for 40% of all agricultural export revenue.

I love activities that include the senses, so I thought playing with coffee beans would be fun (and I love the smell, duh, I’m a mom!). I printed out the map outline we had used for our foam map activity earlier, and printed it on cardstock so it would hold up to the glue, etc. You can download your copy, free, HERE!

We used school glue to stick the coffee beans to the image.

My daughter liked to arrange them different ways – she really had fun with this!

Before long we had a completed country outline of Guatemala made entirely out of coffee beans! How fun is this?

Part of my goals on the geography portions of my activities are to have my girls at least become familiar if not recognize the shape of the different country borders. This was a fun activity that did both, and smelled AMAZING (well if you like coffee, haha).
