The Egyptian pound E£ is the currency of Egypt. It is divided into 100 piastres, or ersh or 1,000 milliemes. Currently there are six coins in circulation – the 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 pt & £1. Since I am limited by what my budget and online sources can find, I wasn’t able to get a 20pt coin, but it was fun to play with the coins I was able to find! 🙂

I love comparing money (usually coins) from other countries with United States coins – I currently have in my collection a 1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and silver dollar. First we looked at each coin and lined them up by value.

We then compared each value piece with an equivalent US coin. Is it bigger/smaller? Heavier/lighter? How does the colors differ? Shape? Thickness? Although my oldest daughter doesn’t know the value of money yet, this activity is great to compare and contrast!

It’s so much fun to play with money from other countries! 🙂
