My toddler LOVES to bake things. Anytime I’m in the kitchen I hear a little voice screeching at me, “I wanna DOOOO it!” She also likes to watch Peppa Pig (I allow some TV time in the morning while I try to get my day started – like coffee, lol). I found a cute Peppa Pig cookie cutter on eBay a few weeks ago, and thought this would be a fun activity to do together.
I thought graham crackers would be a good foundation and would show the details of the stamp without as much sugar as a cookie recipe.
GRAHAM CRACKER RECIPE (Vegan):
1 Cup Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
1 Cup Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Tablespoons Almond Milk
Mix all ingredients together, forming a stiff dough. Allow to sit for 30 minutes, then roll out between wax paper, cut out with cooking cutter and bake on baking sheet or parchment paper. 300′ for 30-35 minutes, until lightly browned.
She wanted to do everything herself – I did help her a little with the rolling of the dough thought.
After the crackers were baked, we made some hot chocolate and I put some in a brulee dish to be the “muddy puddle” – we made our little Peppa Pig crackers jump up and down in muddy puddles and then ate the chocolate soaked crackers.
When you jump in muddy puddles, you must wear your boots.
