One my toddler’s very favorite books is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle – one day she “made” me read it about 20 times – it’s safe to say we’re familiar with it! I was looking at egg carton crafts on Pinterest one day and thought we could make a fun caterpillar out of an egg carton.
I used a paper-based egg carton as the plastic ones are hard to paint.
I cut the base in half and then trimmed the edges to make them look “pretty” haha
My toddler spent a good deal of time painting her caterpillar – she would often get sidetracked and start finger-painting the newspaper. Mama may have helped a little… 😉
As you can see, my kid painted her nails as we worked on the caterpillar – she was proud of her green and red finger-tips. 😀
This part I did while she was napping as my hot glue gun and toddlers don’t mix. I used a silver pipe cleaner for the antenna and oversized goggly-eyes.
I poked two holes in the top to thread the antenna through:
I think he turned out pretty cute – don’t you!?
